If you Just got JRA! and what Is it?

This Page is for anyone! who wants to know what JRA is? and More!?
In case you have just gotten Diagnosed with JRA, (Juvenile rheumatoid Arthritis) Or Your Child just got Diagnosed with it and Your Worried or Scared.
Take a Deep BREATH! With me!! *IN and OUT* some people think RA is a Death wish. It's Not.. it can become one if you don't Take care of your self and let it rule your life. Sometimes even, I Let it rule My life! When I shouldn't But I DO!

The Main symptoms of it is, the Pain in your Joints and swelling that may come and go but never goes away and feels like it is always there.
Joint stiffness in the morning or all day, for me it never goes anyway.
Maybe you don't want to walk far or your Child may not want to, Or if Your Baby ay have it, they don't want to Crawl
Kids and Babies can get it. And in your eyes you can get  Eye disease and Symptoms Are Blurred Vision and pain in the eye, and when you see light it hurts or get worser, and Vision loss.
And With Systemic JRA you can get fevers as high 103F to 106F And rashes that kinda Pink or red and Are in torso, face, palms, soles of feet, and armpits. The rash often comes and goes and may appear late in the day or in the early morning. It may also be brought on by warm baths or by rubbing or scratching the skin.
Some Doctors don't know what it is So They just say Growing Pains or could say something Very Different. They are Many Disease that have the same Symptoms, that's why you must Find a Doctor that Knows what they are doing or they Could be treating you for the Wrong thing.

if You just Found out, it is JRA. Try not to FREAK OUT! It's hard not to! BELIEVE ME! I was In Shock when I found out. I could not Believe it! After all the pain and nights up crying because of the pain and the Worry and fear. They finally knew what I had but the thing is to Teat It.  So many MEDS!! :O NSAIDs And corticosteroids And TNF meds! 0_0 My eyes were bugged out when I found out! NSAIDs  (Nonsteroidal anti-inflammatory drugs)are usually the first medicines tried to control JRA inflammation and symptoms.

Naproxensodium is the most frequently used NSAID treatment for JRA. Doctors choose naproxen based on its low incidence of side effects compared to its effectiveness. Ibuprofen is an effective alternative. But in general, less than one-third of children will have significant relief from NSAID'S.
Corticosteroids may also be used as a first-line medicine, especially as injections, for children who have pauciarticular (oligoarthritis) with shortening of the muscles around the joints (contractures). Oral or injected corticosteroids are often used for polyarticular JRA with joint pain and swelling, and sometimes intravenous (IV) corticosteroids are used for systemic JRA. If symptoms are not well-controlled with NSAIDs or corticosteroids, stronger medicines such as methotrexate are often used successfully Methotrexate, sulfasalazine, and other second-line medications are sometimes referred to as disease-modifying antirheumatic drugs (DMARDs). Some experts prefer to call them slow-acting antirheumatic drugs (SAARDs). The biological agent etanercept, (Enbrel) which is a tumor necrosis factor (TNF) inhibitor, has had some success in relieving symptoms and decreasing the number of flare-ups.
And Some times,We have periods with no symptoms (remission) to flare-ups. I know sme peple who have had them and like 2 years they were fine they It started up again. :(
I can't forget the Bloood Work, I always get some out. There are Some blood tests t see if you have JRA, and It's called Rheumatoid factor (RF), to clarify whether a child with polyarticular JRA is RF-positive or RF-negative. If you have JRA it's RF-positive, If you don't it's RF-negative. But I have JRA and Mine is negative. So some times it's wrong.

When Does Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis, turn to Rheumatoid arthritis
when You are under 18 It's called JRA Even if Your  Diagnosed when Younger it's still Called JRA (Juvenile rheumatoid arthritis) but when are Past 18, It's Called RA (Rheumatoid arthritis) Even on your 18th Birthday, It's Called RA.. My Doctor told me all about it.. so Now I call Mine Rheumatoid arthritis. I just say yeah I got Diagnosed with it when I was 18 But I had it when I was 13! Most Dr's Understand that.. Just Clearing That Up for you!
